After this past weekend’s Ancaster Wedding Show, I was thinking about how much I prepared and planned as an exhibitor, and I am sure there is some planning and preparation from the attendees’ side too. With that in mind, I put together this bridal show survival guide.
Congratulations on taking this exciting step toward planning your dream wedding! Bridal shows can be a whirlwind of inspiration, information, and decision-making. To ensure you make the most of your visit, here’s a survival guide tailored just for you.
1. Plan Ahead
Before diving into the show, create a game plan. Identify the vendors you’re most interested in, especially those aligned with your vision. Whether it’s photographers, florists, or venues, jot down a list to guide your exploration.
2. Bring Your Entourage (but Keep It Small)
While it’s tempting to bring everyone along, consider a smaller, focused group. Your closest confidants will offer valuable opinions without overwhelming your decision-making process.
3. Ask Questions and Take Notes
Engage with vendors! Don’t hesitate to ask questions and take notes. Inquire about services, pricing, and availability. This information will be invaluable when you’re making decisions later.
4. Attend the Fashion Show
Fashion shows are not just about the dresses! They showcase different styles, trends, and even hair and makeup ideas. Grab a seat and soak up the inspiration.
5. Capture the Moments
Take photos! Snap pictures of anything that catches your eye—be it décor, floral arrangements, or photography styles. These visuals will be handy for reference later.
6. Stay Hydrated and Energised
Bridal shows can be exhilarating but also tiring. Keep hydrated and grab a snack to maintain your energy levels throughout the day.
7. Enter Giveaways and Contests
Many vendors host giveaways or offer discounts at bridal shows. Take advantage of these opportunities—they might just make your dream wedding more affordable!
8. Make Connections
Building rapport with vendors is key. If you click with a photographer or another vendor, exchange contact information. A good connection can make your wedding planning process smoother.
9. Stay Open-Minded
You might stumble upon ideas or services you hadn’t considered. Stay open-minded—sometimes the best finds come from unexpected sources.
